Visiting La Marsa

La Marsa is a northern sea side area in Tunisia and a very popular tourist destination. This chic area is frequented by the rich and famous with beautiful holiday homes and fantastic beaches and scenery.

Visiting La Marsa you will want to spend some time on the beaches, soaking up the sun and swimming in the cool waters. There are a few restaurants which are easy to find and getting to La Marsa is so easy using the TGM train.

Things to Experience

La Marsa is a seaside town so if you want to get out and explore Tunisia you will have to travel a bit. Sidi Bou Said is only two kilometers from this beautiful holiday area where you will be amazed by the beauty of the white washed buildings with bright blue doors and windows and plenty of vines and flowers. This is a very arty area attracting artists from around the world and once you arrive you will understand why.

Sidi Bou Said sits on a hill overlooking the marina offering spectacular views, there are plenty of souvenir shops in the area along with cafes and restaurants.

Travel only three kilometers to the famous UNESCO World Heritage Site of Carthage. Carthage was a Phoenician colony before it was taken over by the Romans. Today it is an archaeological site with a host of fantastic ruins to be explored and a museum. Walk up Byrsa Hill where you can enjoy picturesque views of the surrounding landscape.

Tunis is only ten kilometers from La Marsa. Tunis is also the capital of Tunisia and as you can imagine there are plenty of things to do and see in this busy city. The most visited is the Medina, the Old Town, where you can wander the narrow passages and soak up the spectacular architecture before enjoying some shopping at the traditional markets, which line the passages and alleys.
